Wolverine World Wide Inc Reports 16.4% Increase in Net Earnings

WOLVERINE WORLD WIDE INC /DE/ has recently released its 10-Q report. Wolverine World Wide, Inc. designs, manufactures, sources, markets, licenses, and distributes footwear, apparel, and accessories across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada and Latin America. The company operates through two segments, Active Group and Work Group, and also includes other branded and licensing activities, with products sold under names including Merrell, Saucony, Wolverine, Cat, Hush Puppies, Bates, Harley-Davidson, Chaco, Keds, Sweaty Betty and Sperry.

In the second quarter ended July 4, 2026, revenue rose 6.8% to $506.4 million from $474.2 million a year earlier, while net earnings attributable to Wolverine World Wide increased 16.4% to $31.2 million from $26.8 million. Diluted earnings per share increased to $0.37 from $0.32, and operating profit rose 16.2% to $47.3 million.

For the first two quarters of 2026, revenue increased 8.7% to $964.0 million from $886.5 million, and net earnings attributable to Wolverine World Wide rose 32.1% to $51.4 million from $38.9 million. Diluted earnings per share improved to $0.61 from $0.47, and operating profit climbed 31.6% to $81.2 million from $61.7 million.

The Active Group drove most of the growth. Quarterly revenue in that segment increased 9.3% to $388.4 million, led by a $17.6 million increase from Merrell and a $14.3 million increase from Saucony. For the first half, Active Group revenue rose 11.4% to $760.0 million, with Saucony up $40.4 million and Merrell up $36.7 million. Active Group operating profit increased 10.0% in the quarter to $71.2 million and 12.1% year to date to $137.6 million.

The Work Group was weaker. Quarterly revenue fell 1.6% to $105.8 million, as Cat declined $2.3 million and Harley-Davidson fell $1.9 million, partly offset by a $2.5 million increase in Wolverine. For the first half, Work Group revenue slipped 0.4% to $181.6 million. Operating profit in the segment dropped 17.7% in the quarter to $16.7 million and 15.0% year to date to $23.3 million.

Gross margin narrowed to 46.5% in the quarter from 47.2% a year earlier and to 47.0% year to date from 47.4%, with higher tariff costs cited as the main pressure. Selling, general and administrative expenses rose to $187.4 million in the quarter from $182.4 million, and to $370.1 million year to date from $354.4 million.

The company said it paid $35.9 million in IEEPA tariffs as of the date of the Supreme Court ruling, filed refund claims for $34.0 million excluding interest, and had received $6.9 million in cash beginning July 20, 2026. It did not recognize any tariff refunds in the quarter ended July 4, 2026. Inventory at quarter end was down $55.2 million, or 17.0%, from the prior-year second quarter.
