Waste Management CEO to Retire, Successor Named

WM said Chief Executive Officer Jim Fish will retire and resign from the board after more than 10 years as CEO and more than 25 years with the company.

The company named President John Morris as his successor. Morris will become president and chief executive officer on Jan. 4, 2027, and will also join the board at that time.

Morris has held a series of operating and strategy roles at WM, including market area general manager of New York City, area vice president of the greater mid-Atlantic area, chief strategy officer, senior vice president of field operations and chief operating officer.

Fish became CEO in 2016. WM’s board chair Kathleen Mazzarella said the company’s succession plan had been in place and that Morris had a track record of improving service delivery while reducing operating expenses, along with gains in employee satisfaction, safety and retention. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares -0.46% to a price of $221.10. For the full picture, make sure to review WASTE MAN's 8-K report.
