Aurora Innovation said it has nearly doubled its driverless customer base in 2026, as it heads into year-end fully allocated to operate 200 driverless trucks under transport-as-a-service agreements.
The company also said Hirschbach plans to scale to 500 autonomous trucks under a driver-as-a-service arrangement, with deliveries expected to start in 2027. Aurora said it is in talks with additional customers for similar agreements.
Aurora said its driverless fleet has now logged more than 500,000 miles since commercial launch. It said trucks operating for McLane, Werner and other customers are averaging more than 225,000 miles per year on an annualized basis, more than twice the utilization of a traditional truck.
On the hardware side, Aurora said its second-generation commercial kit is designed for a one-million-mile operating life and cuts costs by more than half. Roush has started volume upfitting and is targeting production of 20 trucks per week in October.
Aurora said its 2030 target is more than 30,000 driverless trucks in operation, which it says would support a multi-billion-dollar revenue stream. Today the company's shares have moved -2.71% to a price of $6.285. Check out the company's full 8-K submission here.
